The second annual OktoberFEAST food-feast relay race sponsored by Underberg will take place on Saturday, October 1st, 2016 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Teams of four will compete to finish four signature Rhein Haus dishes, each washed down with a half-liter of Rhein Haus lager brewed by Bayern Brewing. Along with the championship trophy, the team with the fastest time will win the grand prize of a $250 donation to a charity of their choice, a $50 Rhein Haus gift card and a commemorative Rhein Haus Oktoberfest t-shirt for each team member.
The four dishes, each a single serving size, to be completed by the team include:
Pretzel bites with spicy mustard
Nuremberg sausages and a pile of sauerkraut
Currywurst and fries
Berliners – German doughnuts with caramel pastry cream or raspberry jam filled center
Before the clock stops, after the last dish is finished, the four team members must toast with 20ml bottles of Underberg – a digestif bitter produced in Germany.
Interested participants can sign up at rheinhausseattle.com/oktoberfeast.
The entry fee is $25 per team, which will be donated to Northwest Harvest.
The 2nd place team will receive a $25 Rhein Haus gift card and a commemorative Rhein Haus Oktoberfest t-shirt for each team member and the 3rd place team will each win an Oktoberfest t-shirt.
Master Brewmeister Juergen Knoller of Bayern Brewing will host a ceremonial keg tapping in the Biergarten after the winners are announced at 5 p.m.
The Bavarian Village Band will perform in the Rhein Haus Bier Hall from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
A Masskrugstemmen Competition happens at 6:30pm. Competitors enter by purchasing a liter of Oktoberfest beer. To play, participants keep their liter of beer held at arm’s length and the competitor who holds out the longest wins a Rhein Haus gift card and brewery prizes.
